I see that they did try something different in not having a huge world/galaxy ending stakes to drive the importance of the film. But if your going to do a smaller story or really stories, as it feels in this movie, then there better be great dialog, character motivations and character development. And the only character growth is in Rotta the Hutt. No risks either in action or character.
It is a very pretty film though. So, if you got that Star Wars itch and haven't seen this, it's worth a ren...
Not a great movie experience, it's more like 3 episodes stitched together without a continuous plot. It also feels too CGI for my tastes, where some real set design could have truly helped it build immersion. If you're a fan of the show, it's probably worth watching for some character closure, but come into it expecting a three-episode binge that's only very loosely connected to each-other over a plot worthy of the big screen.
