Dive into the delightfully offbeat 1987 romantic comedy Mannequin, a beloved cult classic starring Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City, Big Trouble in Little China, Porky's, Peter Benchley's Creature) alongside Andrew McCarthy (Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Less Than Zero). Set in a vibrant Philadelphia department store, this whimsical tale follows struggling artist Jonathan Switcher, who discovers a mannequin magically brought to life, sparking a heartwarming romance filled with '80s flair and fantasy charm. Directed by Michael Gottlieb (Mr. Nanny, A Kid in King Arthur's Court), Mannequin shines with it's nostalgic blend of comedy, romance, and surreal imagination. The supporting cast is equally memorable: James Spader (Stargate, The Blacklist, Boston Legal) brings a hilariously smarmy energy; Estelle Getty (The Golden Girls, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, Mask) adds warmth and wit; and mesh-gloved icon Meshach Taylor (Designing Women, The Allnighter, Dave's World) steals scenes as the flamboyant Hollywood Montrose. Carole Davis (The Shrimp on the Barbie, If Looks Could Kill, The Rapture) and G.W. Bailey (Police Academy, M*A*S*H, Short Circuit) round out the cast with colorful supporting roles. Capped with an iconic, Oscar-nominated soundtrack featuring Starship's smash hit "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," Mannequin remains a time capsule of '80s pop culture - a feel-good, quirky romantic comedy that continues to win new fans with it's mix of magic, music, and movie-store nostalgia. Product Description Rescued by Doctor Easter from a deadly assault on their headquarters by Dimsdale Boiled, Rune Balot finds temporary shelter in "Paradise", a high-tech laboratory where the Scramble 09 protocol originated. While the severely injured Oeufcoque regenerates in a healing vat, Rune struggles to find the answers within herself that will let her equally injured psyche find some measure of peace. But as the search for clues to the location of Shell's hidden memories continues, Boiled finds them again, and Rune and the Doctor decide it's time to carry the war to the enemy. It's a world of high-stakes gambling and glamour, as Rune struggles to bring the man that murdered her to justice in the second combustible volume of Mardock Scramble! Amazon.com Combustion (2011) is the second of three features based on the Mardock Scramble novels by Tow Ubukata. After being rescued from a murderous gunfight with Dimsdale Boiled by Dr. Easter, agent Rune Balot finds temporary peace in the lab facility known as Paradise. As she wanders through its candy-colored forests, she waits for the mysterious figure known as Oeufcoque to recover. The villain engineering their problems is Shell Septinos, whose dangerous memories are stored in microchips hidden inside million-dollar chips in a flashy casino. Easter and Rune head for the casino, with Oeufcoque appearing as a glowing golden mouse, then as a pair of gloves that help Rune win at cards and roulette. At just over 60 minutes, Second Combustion plays like two episodes of an ongoing series. It begins where the first film ended and stops where the third presumably begins. The characters don't really grow or change, and the plot doesn't go much of anywhere--or make much sense. It's difficult to understand why it's being released on its own, rather than the three films as a set. The egg-based names quickly become inadvertently funny, but the gratuitous nudity and violence feel like throwbacks to the days of Demon City Shinjuku. In addition to the theatrical version of Second Combustion, the disc includes a director's cut that's about four minutes longer, but no clearer. The Mardock Scramble books were also adapted to a manga series, but plans for both an OVA and a live-action film failed to materialize. (Rated TV MA, VSD: graphic violence, violence against women, grotesque imagery, extensive nudity, tobacco and drug use) --Charles Solomon

Catapulted into the spotlight, she seized the moment to challenge an industry unprepared for her immense talent, emerging as a trailblazer not only as a performer but also as an author and activist. Matlin's incredible journey continued with standout roles in acclaimed projects such as The West Wing and the Oscar®-winning CODA, all while relentlessly advocating for greater inclusion and accessibility both within Hollywood and beyond it's borders. Matlin opens up about her personal and professional struggles - her meteoric rise to fame, the challenges of navigating a predominantly hearing industry, the pain of a tumultuous high-profile relationship, getting sober and years of being overlooked by Hollywood - alongside her many triumphs. Director Shoshannah Stern reimagines traditional documentary storytelling, elevating ASL as the film's heart and soul while removing conventional voiceovers and including open captions, creating an authentic and visually immersive experience. Through split-screen interviews with both Deaf and hearing contributors, the film weaves a poignant and inspiring narrative of Matlin's legendary career, highlighting her tireless fight for inclusion and representation in an entertainment world that at first had no place for her.

Based on the true story of a World War II Ufa star, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Veronika Voss is wicked satire disguised as 1950s melodrama. Lola Germany in the autumn of 1957: Lola (Barbara Sukowa), a seductive cabaret singer–prostitute, exults in her power as a tempter of men, but she wants more—money, property, and love. Pitting a corrupt building contractor (Mario Adorf) against the new straight-arrow building commissioner (Armin Mueller-Stahl), Lola launches an outrageous plan to elevate herself in a world where everything—and everyone—is for sale. Shot in childlike candy colors, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Lola, an homage to Josef von Sternberg’s classic The Blue Angel, is a wonderfully satirical tribute to capitalism.

A love story about divorce. A marriage coming apart and a family coming together. Marriage Story is a hilarious and harrowing, sharply observed, and deeply compassionate film from the acclaimed writer-director Noah Baumbach. Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson deliver tour-de-force performances as Charlie, a charismatic New York theater director wedded to his work, and Nicole, an actor who is ready to change her own life. Their hopes for an amicable divorce fade as they are drawn into a system that pits them against each other and forces them to redefine their relationship and their family. Featuring bravura, finely drawn supporting turns from Alan Alda, Ray Liotta, and Laura Dern—who won an Academy Award for her performance here—as the trio of lawyers who preside over the legal battle, Marriage Story (nominated for six Academy Awards, including best picture) is a work of both intimacy and scope that ultimately invokes hope amid the ruins. Y: Marshals expands the Yellowstone universe with a gritty neo-Western procedural set in modern-day Montana. Following the explosive conclusion of Yellowstone, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) leaves ranch life behind to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. Combining his skills as a cowboy and former Navy SEAL, Kayce becomes part of a specialized team tasked with bringing “range justice” to a region plagued by escalating violence, organized crime, and deep-rooted corruption. The series explores Kayce’s struggle to balance family obligations with the psychological toll of law enforcement. As he adapts to his new role, Kayce faces threats from gangs, cartels, and extremist groups, all while navigating the moral gray areas of frontier justice. His team includes seasoned operatives and ambitious newcomers, each with their own secrets and motivations. Together, they confront high-stakes cases that test their loyalty, resilience, and sense of duty. Season 1 unfolds across 13 episodes, blending intense action sequences with character-driven drama. From tense standoffs in remote ranchlands to undercover operations in small towns, the show captures the rugged beauty and peril of Big Sky Country. Returning Yellowstone characters like Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), Mo (Mo Brings Plenty), and Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill) deepen the narrative ties, while new faces—played by Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green, and Brett Cullen—add fresh dynamics to the ensemble. Created by Taylor Sheridan, Spencer Hudnut, and David C. Glasser, Y: Marshals combines the authenticity of Sheridan’s storytelling with the procedural intensity Hudnut honed on SEAL Team. Executive producers include Sheridan, Hudnut, Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, and Luke Grimes, ensuring the series maintains the cinematic scope and emotional depth fans expect from the Yellowstone franchise. At its core, Y: Marshals is about identity, sacrifice, and the cost of justice in a land where the line between law and survival is razor-thin. It’s a gripping new chapter that honors Yellowstone’s legacy while carving its own path through the untamed American West.

Picking up where Volume One left off, this sophomore collection of Hong Kong cinema classics draws together many of the best films from the final years of the Shaw Brothers studio, proving that while the end was nigh, these merchants of martial arts mayhem weren’t going to go out without a fight! Armed with stunning special features and ravishing new restorations, this boxset is even bigger and bolder than the last one. We begin with kung fu master Lau Kar-leung’s instant classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, in which his adoptive brother Gordon Liu achieved overnight stardom as the young man who unexpectedly finds spiritual enlightenment on the path to vengeance; Lau and Liu followed the original with two comically inventive sequels, Return to the 36th Chamber and Disciples of the 36th Chamber, both included here. Already established as a genius at blending dazzling action with physical comedy, Lau himself plays the lead role in the hilarious Mad Monkey Kung Fu, coupled here with Lo Mar’s underrated Five Superfighters. Next, we once again meet Chang Cheh’s basher boy band the Venom Mob in no less than four of their best-loved team-ups: Invincible Shaolin, The Kid with the Golden Arm, Magnificent Ruffians and culminating in the all-star Ten Tigers of Kwangtung, co-starring Ti Lung and Fu Sheng. After Lau brings us perhaps his best high-kicking comedy with My Young Auntie, a playful star vehicle for his real-life muse Kara Hui, we see Shaw Brothers fully embracing Eighties excess in our strangest double feature yet: Wong Jing’s breathtakingly wild shoot-‘em-up Mercenaries from Hong Kong, and Kuei Chih-hung’s spectacularly unhinged black magic meltdown The Boxer’s Omen. Last but certainly not least, Lau Kar-leung directs the last major Shaw production, Martial Arts of Shaolin, filmed in mainland China with a hot new talent named Jet Li in the lead role; it is paired in this set with The Bare-Footed Kid, a reverent remake of a Chang Cheh classic with Johnnie To (Running Out of Time) in the director’s chair and Lau back on fight choreography duties, in arguably the ultimate filmed tribute to Shaws’ everlasting cinematic legacy.
