No screen team was more triumphant in the Golden Age of kung fu cinema than the iron triangle of director Chang Cheh and his protégés David Chiang and Ti Lung. This box set comprises 12 classic martial arts films from the famous Shaw Brothers' library. Many of these films are debuting for the first time on Blu-ray. Get ready for some exciting thrills and chills as our iconic heroes square off against abominable villains in a duel to the death! Have Sword, Will Travel: Internationally acclaimed director Chang Cheh teams David Chiang and Ti Lung for the second time in the classic heroic bloodshed epic Have Sword, Will Travel, its title inspired by the lone gunman Hollywood hit TV show Have Gun—Will Travel. Ti Lung is the armor of an "armored van" taking silver to the capital. Along the way, a mysterious knight (David Chiang) stalks him. Although he appears to be the robber, his intentions prove to be far more mysterious. The Heroic Ones: No screen team was more triumphant in the Golden Age of kung fu cinema than the iron triangle of director Chang Cheh and his protégés David Chiang and Ti Lung. This is their quintessential historical epic, set during the waning years of the Tang Dynasty. It's literally brother against brother as David Chiang and Ti Lung display their remarkable martial arts prowess—battling insiders and outsiders in a duel to the death for the fate of China. Vengeance!: David Chiang plays a psychotic man out to avenge the death of his older brother (Ti Lung) in this tale of retribution and paying the ultimate price. The action by acclaimed choreographers Tang Chia and Yuen Cheung-yan (The Grandmaster, The Matrix Reloaded) is just as psychotic. Chang Cheh won Best Director and David Chiang's haunting performance earned him the Best Actor Award at the 1970 Asian Film Festival. The Anonymous Heroes: Director Chang Cheh and his stars Ti Lung and David Chiang were known as the iron triangle for their many successful films together. But perhaps they should have been known as the iron rectangle because of the invaluable contributions of action choreographer Lau Kar-leung. This post-Chinese Revolution adventure of rebels battling warlords is a prime example of the quartet's remarkable skills behind and in front of the camera. Their teamwork made this a 1971 top-ten hit. The Deadly Duo: It's the Sung Dynasty versus the Chin invaders as the iron triangle truly hit their stride with this crowd-pleasing kung fu epic. When a handsome prince is taken captive and guarded by a martial arts master, it's up to two powerful patriots to fight overwhelming odds. From the first fascinating minute to the final desperate battle—culminating in an unforgettably evocative conclusion—this duo is dynamic as well as deadly. Duel of Fists: Another triumph for the iron triangle, not to mention for action choreographer Liu Chia-liang as well. David Chiang is a Chinese boxer who travels to Bangkok in search of his lost brother, who may or may not be the Thai boxer played by Ti Lung. This kung fu/Thai boxing combo was one of the megahits of 1971, second only to Bruce Lee's The Big Boss. The Duel: In the days before Bruce Lee became a superstar, the greatest heroes in Hong Kong cinema were the majestic Ti Lung and the charismatic David Chiang. The year after they exploded into superstardom in Chang Cheh's landmark teen rebellion action film, Vengeance!, they returned in this mano-a-mano classic as an adopted son struggling with familial fears and a streetwise knight-errant named "Rambler." The two distrust each other until they survive a trial by fire…and fists. The Angry Guest: When a vengeful Japanese gangster has our heroes' mother murdered and one of their girlfriends kidnapped, it's terror in Tokyo and horror in Hong Kong in this renowned sequel to Duel of Fists (featuring director Chang Cheh himself in a rare on-screen appearance as a triad boss!). The esteemed Yasuaki Kurata, the future co-star of Jet Li's Fist of Legend, adds to the fight-filled fun in a film filled with international favorites. All Men Are Brothers: This is the long-awaited sequel to the martial arts blockbuster The Water Margin. Finally, its many international fans can see this action-packed follow-up, based on one of China's most enduring 14th-century novels. Also known as Seven Soldiers of Kung Fu and 108 Heroes, it is truly an epic by any name, featuring a cast of perennial kung fu favorites, and no less than four action choreographers. The Blood Brothers: Set in the waning years of the Ching Dynasty, this dramatic, tragic, romantic, and blood-soaked martial arts tale of betrayal and revenge explores one of the most sensational scandals in Chinese history…and marked the true ascension of its director and actors to superstar status. In fact, Ti Lung won Golden Horse Awards of Outstanding Performance for his challenging role of a jealous provincial governor who kills his friend in order to steal the man's wife. The Savage 5: The heroes are savage because the villains are brutal, cruel, and vicious. At first, a gang just wants the village locksmith to open a stolen safe, but it soon escalates into torment. Though reminiscent of The Seven Samurai, The Savage 5 distinguishes itself well as the director and his revered action choreographers, Liu Chia-liang and Tang Chia, design each of its many struggles with gritty depravity and desperate power. The result is an especially realistic, even grueling, exercise in white-knuckle suspense. 7 Man Army: In 1933, 20,000 Japanese soldiers and 50 tanks invaded the Pa Tou Lou Tzu, a strategic key point of the Great Wall. With only seven men stationed in defense, these heroes took on the entire army for five days before succumbing. Director Chang Cheh recreated this epic battle with a stellar cast, including Ti Lung, David Chiang, Alexander Fu Sheng, and Chen Kuan-tai, as a celluloid tribute to these nameless souls. Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. An assortment of unruly and misfit teens have all been forced to attend camp at a wildlife preserve, to commune with nature. What they don't realize is that nearby in the woods, an illicit marijuana growing operation is underway and the weed farmers have been using a pesticide which has had one very unintended side effect: turning ordinary ticks into giant, ravenous bloodsuckers... One of the quintessential creature features of the early 90s, Tony Randel's (Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Amityville: It's About Time) TICKS pays loving tribute to 1950s giant monster movies, updating the formula by adding copious amounts of slime and heavily increased bloodshed. Starring Seth Green (Austin Powers), Alfonso Ribeiro (TV's Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Rosalind Allen (TV's Seinfeld) and a very memorable appearance from Clint Howard (Ice Cream Man), Vinegar Syndrome brings TICKS to 4K UHD for the very first time in a never-before-seen extended version, featuring comprehensive interviews and commentaries with the film's key creators including producer Brian Yuzna (Society) and TICKS creator and effects supervisor, Doug Beswick (Aliens, The Terminator). Bonus Features: 1. Region Free UHD/Blu-ray Set 2. 4k UHD presented in High-Dynamic-Range 3. Newly scanned & restored in 4k from its 35mm interpositive 4. Commentary track with director Tony Randel and actor Clint Howard, moderated by Nathaniel Thompson 5. Commentary track with special effects supervisor Doug Beswick and stop-motion animator Yancy Calzada, moderated by filmmaker Joe Begos 6. "UNDER THE SKIN: THE MAKING OF TICKS" - an extended three part making-of documentary with: director Tony Randel, actress Rosalind Allen, special effects supervisor Doug Beswick, actress Ami Dolenz, writer Brent Friedman, editor Leslie Rosenthal, composer Christopher Stone and executive producer Brian Yuzna 7. Like an amphibian Laurel & Hardy, TIJUANA TOADS revives the thin guy/fat guy formula for comedy, and endows it with a distinctive south-of-the-border flavor. Toads "Pancho" and "El Toro" engage in madcap mischief (and even a bit of romance) while seeking to advance themselves within the biological food chain: giving chase to grasshoppers, Japanese beetles, and flies, while evading comic predators like snakes, cats, dogs, and a particularly dopey crane. This edition includes all seventeen laugh-filled episodes, rendered in the distinctive DePatie-Freleng style of the late '60s/early '70s, newly remastered in high definition.

Brand New 2K Master! How long can a man withstand torture... before he cracks? That's one of the probing questions asked in this tense and compelling Korean War drama starring screen greats Richard Widmark (The Secret Ways, Backlash, Judgment at Nuremberg) and Richard Basehart (The Satan Bug, Moby Dick, He Walked by Night). Former POW Major Harry Cargill (Basehart) has not only been charged with collaboration with the enemy, he’s even signed a confession. His court martial should be an open-and-shut case, except that his judge advocate, Colonel William Edwards (Widmark), is suspicious of its ease. Cargill refuses to answer questions or defend himself, but as Edwards investigates, he uncovers a horrifying truth that will shake the Army to its core. Directed by actor Karl Malden (his only directorial effort) and co-starring Dolores Michaels (Warlock), June Lockhart (She-Wolf of London), Carl Benton Reid (In a Lonely Place), Martin Balsam (After the Fox), Rip Torn (Extreme Prejudice) and Khigh Dhiegh (The Manchurian Candidate), Time Limit will hold you in suspense until its shockingly explosive climax! From Robert Siodmak, the brilliant director of The Suspect, The Spiral Staircase, The Killers, Cry of the City, Criss Cross and Deported, comes this lush, noir-tinged melodrama set in 19th-century New England. Phyllis Calvert (The Man in Grey, Indiscreet) is young housekeeper Kate Fernald, who falls in love with Christopher Fortune, played by Robert Hutton (The Steel Helmet, They Came from Beyond Space). Christopher is a wealthy ship captain’s son who would rather study music than the sea. Aware that their union is not to be, Kate renounces her true love and encourages him to wed someone from his own social class. As the years go by, Kate is the mute witness to Christopher’s frustration and unhappiness, culminating in a fatal bout with alcohol. Ella Raines (Phantom Lady, The Web) is stunning as Christopher’s “sensible” sister Rissa, while Eddie Albert (Attack!), Leo G. Carroll (Spellbound), Helena Carter (Invaders from Mars) and John Abbott (Gambit) also give stellar performances in this sumptuous adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Rachel Field (All This, and Heaven Too). Special Features: -Brand New 2K Master -NEW Audio Commentary by Author/Film Historian Lee Gambin and Costume Historian Elissa Rose -Trailers -Optional English Subtitles

A true twentieth-century trailblazer, Harvey Milk was an outspoken human rights activist and the first openly gay U.S. politician elected to public office; even after his assassination, in 1978, he continues to inspire disenfranchised people around the world. The Oscar-winning The Times of Harvey Milk, directed by Robert Epstein (The Celluloid Closet, Paragraph 175) and produced by Richard Schmiechen, was, like its subject, groundbreaking. One of the first feature documentaries to address gay life in America, it’s a work of advocacy itself, bringing Milk’s message of hope and equality to a wider audience. This exhilarating trove of archival footage and heartfelt interviews is as much a vivid portrait of a time and place (San Francisco’s historic Castro District in the seventies) as a testament to the legacy of a political visionary.

In a bizarre blending of art and politics, the 1912 Titanic disaster was turned by German filmmakers-working under the watchful eye of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels-into a drama filled with attacks on British society, some fictitious German crew members, and an anti-capitalism theme. Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (When Eight Bells Toll, The Silence of the Lambs, Nixon) stars with Kristin Scott Thomas (Bitter Moon, The English Patient) and Derek Jacobi (Three Sisters, TV’s I, Claudius) in this compelling World War II drama based on the novel by Graham Greene (The Third Man). Jean-Louis Chavel (Hopkins), a wealthy French lawyer living quietly under Nazi occupation, is seized in a random police raid and thrown into a Paris jail with 29 other innocent men. Marked for the firing squad, he convinces a poor, dying prisoner to take his place by promising his entire estate to the man’s penniless kin. Once freed, the guilt-ridden Chavel returns to his former home and tries to help the family of the man who died in his stead. As he falls in love with the dead man’s sister, Thérèse (Scott Thomas), a stranger (Jacobi in an Emmy-winning role) calling himself “Chavel” arrives on their doorstep. Two private detectives hunt for an actress trapped within the reel of a silent ninja film in the dreamlike debut of Kaizo Hayashi (Circus Boys, Zipang), a magical double-handed cinephilic homage to the movie worlds of the 1910s and 1950s. When private eye Uotsuka (Shiro Sano, Violent Cop, Shin Godzilla) and his sidekick Kobayashi are approached by an aged former actress, Madame Cherryblossom, to go in search of her kidnapped daughter Bellflower, their investigations lead them to the studios of the mysterious M. Pathe company. Here Uotsuka has a strange vision in which he comes face to face with the beautiful star of a 1915 chanbara film that appears to have no ending. From then on, things begin to get a little strange… Among the most impressive and critically regarded Japanese films of the 1980s, To Sleep so as To Dream finally makes its home-video debut outside of Japan in a brand new restoration supervised by the director himself. Like most of you I've been sweating the end of summer heat and begging for something to take me away to the cherished burning leaf smell of October. Thank the dark lords for Justin Seaman's The Barn. Set on Halloween in 1989, The Barn is a love letter to everything that there is to love and fear on Halloween night. The movie opens with a flashback sequence to Halloween 1959 and the community of Wheary Falls is in full on Halloween celebratory mode. The kids gather at the local church for a word from the pastor and are then off to the local harvest hootenanny. Of course, two kids can t follow the All Hallows Eve rules which include staying away from a certain barn. Flash forward thirty years and we re thrown full force into the world of Sam and Josh, two seventeen year old s who live for Halloween and all the joys it brings. Sam (Mitchell Musolino) is the embodiment of everyone who builds haunts in their parent s garages and basks in the offerings of the holiday. Josh (Will Stout) is his lifelong best friend who since the loss of his father earlier in the year hasn t really been the same. After one of their pranks on Ms. Barnhart played by scream queen Linnea Quigley goes too far the boys are faced with the realization that this is the last year of unabashed Halloween fun that they will ever get to have. When their favorite metal band announces on the local rock show hosted by Dr. Rock that they are performing a special Halloween night concert, Sam and Josh decide that they have no choice but to go to the concert and cement themselves as local Halloween legends. They gather up some friends and hit the road bound for the concert. After taking a shortcut they end up in Wheary Falls and smack dab in front of the titular Barn that holds legendary evils. Being a horror movie set on Halloween you know the demons will be unleashed on this group of teenagers as well as the unsuspecting townsfolk. The aftermath of which will never be forgotten by those that live to tell the tale. There are countless horror films set on Halloween, very few actually capture and imbue the spirit the way The Barn does. Justin Seaman brilliantly captures every minute detail from the brilliant script and set design to the amazing soundtrack of the film that really transports you into proceedings. The cast are all brilliant and play the parts to the tilt. Lexi Dripps portrayal of Michelle is one of the best girl next door type performances that I've seen in the genre in quite a while and ranks up there with Phoebe Cates in Gremlins. The demons that terrorize our protagonists are a perfect mesh of 80's kitsch and old school monster magazine masks. I can easily see these villains becoming popular Halloween costumes for years to come. The cast and crew of The Barn put everything they had into creating a film that will bring the Halloween spirit into your heart at any time of the year and honestly that s all that we as horror fans can ask for. The Barn comes with my highest recommendation. --Tom Holland's Terror Time The Barn is a love letter to monster movies and the campy decade where they reigned supreme, that s as fun as it is bloody! The idea of everything old being new again is hardly a recent development. That being said, the last year in particular has seen throwbacks to the 80's and retro pastiches becoming a rabid obsession of audiences. Material like Stranger Things and The Final Girls have recently connected with people to unbelievable degrees due to their nostalgic love for the era. It s not difficult to see why this portion of the past is experiencing such a resurgence. The 80's are a time where the monster reigned supreme and horror films carried a surprising amount of power over the rest of cinema. So in spite of such a retro love letter hardly being unfamiliar territory, The Barn pulls this off so effortlessly and authentically. It is definitely the strongest example of achieving this throwback horror since Rodriguez and Tarantino's Grindhouse. In fact, The Barn is some of the most fun that I've had at a horror film in a long time. The story that The Barn frames itself around involves a cursed barn that has largely been forgotten about for thirty years. The dangerous legend associated with this relic sees three monsters, The Boogeyman, Hollow Jack, and the Candy Corn Scarecrow, being components of a Halloween curse that surrounds all of this. Cut to 1989, where Sam and Josh, two precocious teens that are a little too gung ho for the holiday, come face-to-face with this deadly curse and the horrors that come along with it. The Barn spends a good deal of time on its characters, with both Sam and Josh being well defined, albeit simple, protagonists. Everyone comes across as a caricature, but in the comforting, intentional way that is fundamental to the 80's. They re given a large posse of friends to play with, which allows for the film to have a rather expendable death count, which is the right direction for this sort of film. You need to see those silly, over the top death sequences. As their friends begin dying around them, The Barn continues to bank on Sam and Josh s friendship. There is actually believable, compelling chemistry between the two leads that gives this film a healthy, necessary energy to drive it forward. One of the aspects that makes all of this work so well is Sam s deep love for Halloween. He pushes across an infectious obsession with the holiday that frequently had me thinking about Matthew Lillard in Scream. He s frequently bringing up these rules for Halloween that he s created and each one of them is a real delight. Sam treats Halloween like a religion and this approach ends up being really beautiful. Add to that the fact that Sam and Josh are about to graduate high school with this being their last opportunity to trick or treat and paint the town blood red. A nice touch that director, Justin M. Seaman, utilizes with the film s supporting cast, like Sam s Dad or Ms. Barnhart, is that these people are giving performances right out of the Tim and Eric School of Acting. These characters pause at the wrong moments in sentences and make bizarre enunciation choices as if they re completely out of their element. Again, all of this is done to play into the campiness and hammy nature of horror performances circa the 80's but the film nails this aspect especially well. This is something that s really hard to do effectively without it going too far in either direction. These performances are wonderfully wrong in the right sort of way, if that makes sense. You re absolutely laughing with the film rather than at it. It s in on this treat. --Bloody-Disgusting If you were one of the multitudes of horror aficionados that cut their teeth on the abundance of VHS chillers back in the mid-80's, then you've got to be overjoyed with the plethora of throwback flicks that have been unleashed over the course of the last few years. To remember such plastic-cased classics is a thing of beauty, and to revisit them is even more special, but the notion of a tribute to those films that entertained us is a whole other beast, entirely. Allow me to introduce the latest barbarian into the fray: The Barn from director Justin M. Seaman, and suffice it to say, it s beginning to feel a lot like 1989. The opener of this one takes us back to Halloween 1959, and the setting is Wheary Falls, a small town with a large backing from the local church, and the annual hootenanny is underway, and all that s asked of the party goers from the pastor is that they BY ALL MEANS, stay clear of the abandoned barn on the other side of town. Now you honestly didn't think that everyone was going to take the holy man s words to heart, did you? Here s where things get interesting (without giving any spoilers away)- what happens at the front door to the barn to a young kid is masterful, and this is not by any means me cementing myself as a sadistic bastard, but to pull off what Seaman does within the first 4 minutes is not only ballsy and unapologetic, but it sets a tone for the rest of the film. Flash-forward to good old 1989, and the town s biggest Halloween celebrators, Sam and Josh are doing what they enjoy every Autumn: scaring the cheez-whiz out of the locals and making every Debbie downer in town angry. Their friendship has stood the test of Josh s father s passing, and together they compliment each other s twisted sense of humor. When a seemingly harmless prank goes terribly wrong, the two have it broken down to them that their days of jerking around MUST come to an abrupt end. As the impending thoughts of a stagnant existence overwhelm the two, their hopes are somewhat realigned with the news that their favorite heavy metal band will be playing a one-night only show on you guessed it, Halloween. So with a group of pals in tow, the gathering decides that a shortcut to the show is the best route (which it never is), and damned to all hell, wouldn't you know where the shortcut drops our collection of misguided adolescents? yep, right at the doors of the barn itself. Seems the legends of the barn s inhabitants, The Boogeyman, Hallowed Jack and The Candycorn Scarecrow aren't just tall tales after all these creepy suckers are violent, unrepentant, and just not in the Halloween mood. Supported by a couple of entertaining cameos from Linnea Quigley and Ari Lehman, the cast does an admirable job in pulling off performances that are effectually cheesy and fitting for a movie such as this. Oh, and fans of gore? I sincerely hope you brought the biggest damn plastic pumpkin you could find to this film s doorstep, cause it s going to get filled to the brim with enough blood and guts to keep you fed for weeks after screw the candy, viscera s where it s at! There s even a few decent-sized laughs sprayed around in this one to keep things a little bit light from time to time. Overall, I can without a doubt recommend The Barn to everyone looking for a fun, retro trip back to the days of grainy, low-budgeted horror yanked directly off the racks of your local video rental shop this one will sit firmly entrenched in my top 5 of the best horror films for 2016. When Tom and rebellious friend Huck Finn (Brad Renfro) witness a midnight killing, they swear not to reveal what they saw. But that causes a real problem: if Tom doesn't speak up, an innocent friend may be hanged; if he does tell the truth, the real killer, knife-throwing Injun Joe, will come after him.
