"***1/2! Reworking many of the themes from his previous works Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby … The Tenant proves to be another first-class effort from genre director Polanski. A must-see" – The Terror Trap An apartment with an unhappy past sets the stage for filmmaker Roman Polanski's riveting psychological suspense thriller, The Tenant. Polanski stars as Trelkovsky, a quiet, timid file clerk increasingly overshadowed with dread and fear after he moves into his new apartment. Adding to his paranoia are the building's other occupants, who do nothing to alleviate his growing obsession with the untimely, tragic fate of the apartment's previous tenant. Is Trelkovsky's dread truly justified – or is it simply the result of his seemingly disintegrating mental state? A brilliant international cast – Isabelle Adjani, Melvyn Douglas, Jo Van Fleet, Bernard Fresson and Shelley Winters – and Polanski's own penchant for delivering unprecedented suspense (Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown) make The Tenant a haunting, riveting film classic!

Peter Asher: Everywhere Man is a feature-length documentary inspired by musician, producer, and manager Peter Asher’s celebrated cabaret show A Musical Memoir of the ’60s and Beyond. Like his stage performance, the film traces an extraordinary life lived at the center of modern music history. From his early years as a child actor in 1950s London to the Swinging Sixties, Asher emerges as a Zelig-like figure in the culture of the era: one half of the pop duo “Peter and Gordon,” recipients of four chart-topping hits penned by Paul McCartney; the first head of A&R when the Beatles formed Apple Records; and co-owner of the Indica Gallery, the epicenter of London’s countercultural art scene. Asher helped define a generation of singer-songwriters as producer and manager for James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, and others, cementing his reputation as one of music’s most influential behind-the-scenes forces of the 1970s and ‘80s. In the present day, he remains a vital creative force, still performing, producing, and most recently collaborating with Barbra Streisand on her acclaimed The Secret of Life duets album. Featuring intimate interviews with James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Kate Taylor, Lyle Lovett, Natalie Merchant, Marianne Faithfull, Paul Jones, Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtell, Lee Sklar, John Boylan, Paul Shaffer, and Paul McCartney (in voiceover), as well as cultural icons Steve Martin, Eric Idle, Twiggy, and Pattie Boyd, Everywhere Man paints a vibrant portrait of a man whose life intersects with some of the greatest artists and moments of the last six decades. The soundtrack—woven from the timeless hits of those featured—creates a score as unforgettable as the story itself. Special Features: -Additional scenes with Peter Asher, Carole King, Natalie Merchant, and more -Theatrical Trailer Top Similar From the Brand Questions Reviews Peter Asher: Everywhere Man - Blu-ray Peter Asher: Everywhere Man

*This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. Trelkovsky, freshly arrived in Paris, is in desperate need of a place to live. After inquiring at a large apartment complex run by the brooding Monsieur Zy, he’s offered the room of Simone Choule, a resident who recently attempted suicide by throwing herself out of the window. Undeterred by this macabre event, Trelkovsky is happy to move in. Shortly thereafter, he meets Stella, Simone's friend, and does his best to comfort and befriend her. Quickly integrating into Stella’s bohemian social scene, Trelkovsky hopes that his life is finally turning a corner; that is, until his new neighbors begin acting strangely, making wild accusations against him, and displaying increasingly sinister and violent behaviors. As the weeks go on, Trelkovsky begins to suspect that something is very wrong in the stuffy old building and that Simone’s fatal plunge might not have been her own doing… From maverick director Roman Polanski (Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby) comes one of the most unusual and unsettling studio thrillers of the 1970s: THE TENANT. Adapted from Roland Topor’s cult novel, Polanski casts himself in the lead, offering a uniquely demented and outrageously funny performance, and is supported by Melvyn Douglas (The Changeling), Shelly Winters (Night of the Hunter, Lolita), and Isabelle Adjani (Possession). Featuring cinematography by two-time Oscar® winner Sven Nykvist (Cries and Whispers) along with an original score by acclaimed composer Philippe Sarde (La Grande Bouffe), Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present the 4K UHD debut of THE TENANT, newly and exclusively restored in 4K from its original camera negative and featuring a wide array of new and archival extras including an expanded interview with Polanski himself. Product Description Deliverance (BD) Amazon.com One of the key films of the 1970s, John Boorman's Deliverance is a nightmarish adaptation of poet-novelist James Dickey's book about various kinds of survival in modern America. The story concerns four Atlanta businessmen of various male stripe: Jon Voight's character is a reflective, civilized fellow, Burt Reynolds plays a strapping hunter-gatherer in urban clothes, Ned Beatty is a sweaty, weak-willed boy-man, and Ronny Cox essays a spirited, neighborly type. Together they decide to answer the ancient call of men testing themselves against the elements and set out on a treacherous ride on the rapids of an Appalachian river. What they don't understand until it is too late is that they have ventured into Dickey's variation on the American underbelly, a wild, lawless, dangerous (and dangerously inbred) place isolated from the gloss of the late 20th century. In short order, the four men dig deep into their own suppressed primitiveness, defending themselves against armed cretins, facing the shock of real death on their carefully planned, death-defying adventure, and then squarely facing the suspicions of authority over their concealed actions. Boorman, a master teller of stories about individuals on peculiarly mythical journeys, does a terrifying and beautiful job of revealing the complexity of private and collective character--the way one can never be the same after glimpsing the sharp-clawed survivor in one's soul. --Tom Keogh

Whit Stillman followed his delightful indie breakthrough Metropolitan with another clever and garrulous comedy of manners, this one with a darker edge. In this next-to-last phase of the Pink Panther's amazing run of new theatrical short-subjects, newsworthy mid-to-late 1970s trends and fads such as Rock'em-Sock'em robots (PINK ARCADE), compulsive dieting (DIETETIC PINK), and the merchandizing of "pet rocks" (Art Leonardi's ROCKY PINK) come into focus. Fairy-tale spoofs (PINK PIPER, CAT AND THE BEANSTALK) make a modest comeback, but much more impressive are brand-new wrinkles on familiar Panther themes like sleep deprivation (Art Davis's PINK TRUMPET), wars against a pesky fly (turning positively apocalyptic in Sid Marcus's PINK S.W.A.T.) and journeys through surreality (SHERLOCK PINK, Robert McKimson's last and probably best "Panther" pic). Special Features: -NEW Audio commentaries for selected films, by author Mark Arnold, historian Jerry Beck, filmmaker Greg Ford and cartoon writer William Hohauser -Think Pink - How to Draw Pink Panther with Art Leonardi (4:14) -Animated Main Titles For All 8 Blake Edward Pink Panther Films (9:00)

Review "One of the year s most exciting and historically significant archival projects, Kino Lorber s Pioneers of African American Cinema collects nearly 20 hours of feature films and short subjects created by and starring entrepreneurial black entertainers between the 20s and 40s. These race films run the gamut from musicals to melodramas to westerns, and showcase the talents of American masters such as Oscar Micheaux, Spencer Williams, Paul Robeson and Zora Neale Hurston. Given that most of these pictures played well outside any kind of traditional distribution system, they ve always been in danger of getting lost, which makes the preservation efforts behind this set all the more heroic. These are important documents of a truly independent cinema, produced outside of a Hollywood that had little interest in what these artists had to offer." -Noel Murray --LATimes.com
