Resident Evil: Retribution isn’t much of a story, but it delivers plenty of over-the-top zombie action. The upscaled 4K picture has sharp detail, rich colors, and impressive blacks. The Dolby Atmos sound is a real highlight, with big effects and great use of the surround speakers.

Resident Evil: Extinction is a fun, fast-paced entry, with Alice and a group of survivors trying to make it through a zombie-filled desert. The story gets a little over-the-top, but the action keeps it entertaining. The 4K picture looks sharp and film-like, and the Atmos sound gives the action plenty of punch.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a pretty basic zombie-action sequel, but the chaos and nonstop fights make it an easy watch if you’re in the mood for some silly fun. The 4K picture looks sharp and film-like, with the dark blue-gray look of the movie coming through nicely. The Dolby Atmos sound is huge, with gunfire and crashes coming at you from all around. Resident Evil has a simple setup and plenty of creepy moments, though the plot isn’t especially deep. The image is sharp and natural-looking, while the Atmos track makes the alarms, gunfire, and music really fill the room.

Shooter is an easy watch if you’re in the mood for a straightforward action thriller about a skilled sniper taking on the people who betrayed him. It’s not especially subtle, but the brisk pace and big action scenes make it a good time. The 4K disc gives the movie a clean, detailed picture and lively sound, especially during the firefights.

Dazed and Confused remains an endlessly rewatchable coming-of-age comedy, packed with funny moments, great performances, and an amazing 1970s atmosphere. Criterion’s 4K upgrade looks fantastic, with rich colors, strong detail, and a natural film-like appearance. The soundtrack also sounds clear and lively, and the disc includes the director’s cut rather than the theatrical version.

Sidekicks is a goofy, uneven Chuck Norris fantasy that has some fun martial arts moments but never handles its more serious story very well. The movie leans too heavily on broad slapstick, and Joe Piscopo’s comedy gets annoying fast. The 4K presentation is excellent, with sharp detail, rich colors, natural skin tones, and deep blacks, while the dialogue and music sound clear in the DTS-HD 2.0 trac...

Glass is a thoughtful, character-focused conclusion to the trilogy, though it is much slower and less action-heavy than a typical superhero movie. The 4K picture looks excellent, with sharper detail, richer colors, and deeper blacks. The Dolby Atmos sound is powerful and clear, especially during the climax.

Hellboy looks fantastic in 4K, with sharp detail, natural film grain, rich colors, and deep blacks. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack is big and energetic, especially during the action scenes, while dialogue stays clear. The disc includes both the theatrical cut and Guillermo del Toro’s longer Director’s Cut.

Addams Family Values is even funnier and more entertaining than the first movie, with three storylines that come together smoothly. Christina Ricci steals the show as Wednesday, especially during the camp scenes.
