Resident Evil: Retribution isn’t much of a story, but it delivers plenty of over-the-top zombie action. The upscaled 4K picture has sharp detail, rich colors, and impressive blacks. The Dolby Atmos sound is a real highlight, with big effects and great use of the surround speakers.

Resident Evil: Extinction is a fun, fast-paced entry, with Alice and a group of survivors trying to make it through a zombie-filled desert. The story gets a little over-the-top, but the action keeps it entertaining. The 4K picture looks sharp and film-like, and the Atmos sound gives the action plenty of punch.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a pretty basic zombie-action sequel, but the chaos and nonstop fights make it an easy watch if you’re in the mood for some silly fun. The 4K picture looks sharp and film-like, with the dark blue-gray look of the movie coming through nicely. The Dolby Atmos sound is huge, with gunfire and crashes coming at you from all around. The disc has both the theatrical and extend...

True Lies is still a hugely entertaining action-comedy, and the Dolby Atmos track gives the big set pieces plenty of impact. The 4K picture has strong detail and vivid HDR colors, but the processed, overly digital look may bother people who prefer a more natural film appearance.

X-Men: The Last Stand is a solid entry in the trilogy, and this 4K UHD disc is a nice upgrade with noticeably sharper detail and better HDR color highlights. The image still has a heavy, grainy film look, and some of the darker scenes can feel a bit noisier, so it is not a perfect transfer. Audio is excellent with the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Overall, it is a worthwhile 4K if you want a clea...

X2: X-Men United looks great in 4K UHD, with noticeable boosts in detail and richer palette, especially in interiors and some color-heavy scenes. Grain is pretty prominent in places, and a couple CGI moments, including the dam stuff near the end, look softer and more artificial than you might expect. The audio stays excellent with the same DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix, but there is no upgraded imme...

X-Men is still a really fun watch, and this 4K UHD disc makes it look fantastic, with sharper detail and nicer color balance than the 1080p version. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track sounds big and immersive. The only real downside is that the 4K disc mostly just carries the commentary, so you may want the Blu-ray for the rest of the extras.
