In terms of the humor, this has the same vibe as another horror-comedy, Ready Or Not. Semi-villainous rich family tries to take advantage of a dead unicorn, while the virtuous outsiders try to do the right thing. But then it becomes a monster movie as unstoppable monsters come in on a very gruesome rampage. Lots of graphic killings here mixed in with pretty good humor. SPECIAL FEATURES - audioco...

Really enjoyable sports comedy, a' la Major League and the Mighty Ducks. The premise is that a football strike has the NFL scrambling to fill their rosters with scabs. Gene Hackman is the coach who builds a team from washouts and pariahs, including Keanu Reeves as quarterback. Like most of these comedies, it mines humor from the hangups and problems of the ensemble of characters, which they all ...

The words "Weird" & "Quirky" don't have enough gravity to really describe this movie. It's actually layers upon layers of weirdness, and it was made way before its time. It's influence is apparent in the movies of lots of modern directors like Wes Anderson (Anderson's early films clearly rip the mood and tone of Harold and Maude) and The Farrelly Brothers (Cameron Diaz, as "Mary" calls it the "pro...

Lovely, funny, surprising, movie. June Squibb does a great job as Thelma, Richard Roundtree (aka Shaft) is equally amazing as Thelma's friend. Good comedy, but also really heartfelt story here. Plucky, elderly, Thelma uses all her resources to get her money back from people who scammed her. As the movie unfolds you get a peek into the life of the elderly as Thelma gets patronized, dismissed, and u...

Though it stars the creators of South Park, and it seems to have some of the South Park sensibilities, this is actually a David Zucker (Naked Gun, Airplane!, High School High) film. Lots of visual gags, slapstick humor, some raunchiness, lots of inappropriate behavior, etc. There is lighthearted non-PC humor, but the roasting is spread pretty evenly against everyone across all the political spectr...

Extremely silly movie. Not quite bad enough to be a cult classic, but almost. Small slapstick aliens land in rural America on Halloween and need kids' help to leave the planet. Hi-jinx ensue. If you want to have fun watching it, you will, but you really have to be in the right mood. SPECIAL FEATURES: Kino Lorber BluRay release from 2020 has a bunch of extras, including audio commentary.
