This movie is fine if you want an UNDER-90-minute movie to pass the time. Definitely don't want to think too hard about it. Or have to pay attention to the dialogue. Because... boy the dialogue mostly stinks. Wes Craven's horror sensibilities are put to good use when the movie becomes a hand-to-hand battle between the two stars. There's some genuinely exciting moments as the protagonists battle....

Basically the perfect movie. Impeccable cast, gorgeous scenes, fantastic cinematography, wonderful score, achingly beautiful story. It's based on Kazuo Ishiguro's novel of the same name. Ishiguro has said that he compares the life of the English butler to that of a Japanese samurai, and you can see the parallels in that the ethos of both holds loyalty above all else. Everyone is very restraine...

Patti is an outsider to the rap music scene of New Jersey, and New Jersey is already on the outside of the music scene of New York. She has conflict with her mother, a failed musical artist, and is trying to make something happen with a career in rapping while also holding down jobs to support herself. She meets other artists who are also trying to make it in music but aren't part of the mainstrea...

I haven't seen the English remake of this movie but I'm told it's not as good. This movie is one of the best crime-mystery movies ever made. Be aware the movie opens with a graphic act of sexual violence. The story that follows is a fantastic, tense, drama-mystery with fantastic dialogue and perfect storytelling. SPECIAL FEATURES - audio commentary! featurettes! This bluray has the full treatme...

Die Hard was such a successful, and good, movie that for a long time Hollywood action movies sought to emulate the formula of putting the action into an enclosed space. So you got "Die Hard - but on a boat!" "Die Hard - but on a bus!" "Die Hard - but on Air Force One!" Executive Decision is Die Hard, but on a commercial jet liner. Compared to the other "Die Hard - but on a XXX" genre of movies go...

Super enjoyable sequel to the first Equalizer movie. Excellent action with visceral violence and clever situations. Fuqua is one of the best action-movie directors alive. It's a worthy sequel to the first one. However, that being said, it's not as good. The action is just as good, but the story isn't quite as satisfying. SIDE NOTE: Even though it's my least-favorite Equalizer movie, it has my M...

This is a grotesque story about mentally unhinged people who kill others as an expression of their commitment to each other. It's definitely not going to be appreciated by everyone. That being said. WOW! Arturo Ripstein is akin to a godfather of the triumvirate of Oscar-winning Mexican directors (Iñarritu, Del Toro, Cuaron), and you can see the influence in Deep Crimson on those directors with dr...

Keira Knightley is a talented singer-songwriter who meets Mark Ruffalo, a music producer, when they are both at rock bottom emotionally. They get their acts together to record an album all across New York City. The process of making the album heals them both. Don't know why it's rated R, I suppose for the excessive swearing, alcohol use, and adult-relationship discussions? There's no nudity, bedro...

Was expecting a movie with Lady Di gossip and mannered backstabbing a'la The Crown. This was not that, though. It's a gorgeously filmed, wonderfully acted, highly atmospheric, movie that follows Kristen Stewart as Diana over a Christmas holiday with the royal family. Kristen Stewart plays Diana as a woman who is losing her mind, and most of the time Stewart is mooning and rolling her eyes and acti...
